I first saw the Burj Al Arab featured on TV and I was mesmerized by its unique beauty and opulence. I decided then that at some point in my life I wanted to stay there… even if just for a night….so I added it to my bucketlist.
Fast forward about 10 years – I was about to have a very significant birthday & I didn’t want this birthday to fade from my memory, I really wanted to do something significant, something that I would remember in 20 years time with great fondness….lets face it -do you really remember what you did for your 26th or 37th birthday ( I am of course assuming your over this age….:-) but you get the idea.). I can tell you, I can’t recall what I did for most of my birthdays and I know I try & do something nice for every birthday.
So why not the Burj Al Arab for a special birthday??
We decided to splurge & stay two nights- which was really 3 full days. The nice thing about the Burj is they check you in when you arrive for us that was at 9am and they allow us to stay in your room till 8pm…which was fantastic as our flight did not leave till 11:30pm.
Its marketed as a 6 star property & it really is- a personal butler to see to your every requirement. It was fantastic to experience this level of luxury….if only for a few days.
We stayed in the base suite- which had a lounge, dining , office, powder room on the entry level and a huge bedroom with sitting area, big bathroom & wall in robe up the stairs. The bathroom had Hermes full size amenities which you can take with you on checkout. The bedroom & the lounge / dinning areas have sea views which are spectacular.
There is a gym, pool, spa, sauna that is accessible to all guests.
The view from the Al Muntana restaurant is spectacular.
We did dine at Al Mahara which is below ground and built around a huge aquarium- the food was fantastic & the view was beautiful.
We loved our stay at the Burj- while it is expensive- it really was a most memorable experience & I am so glad I spent my birthday at the Burj Al Arab.
